Mama, 2.
Mama came home from work to a Kitchen table with 2 cans of Coke, a Pizza and some Cheesy Bread. Not exactly her favorite food to eat. Despite having explained to her that Domino’s Pizza was the only place I could think of that took Debit upon delivery, Mama scolded me. I had bought us a supper that cost $35.90; and that was just way too much money for Mama.
Sometimes having Supper and Conversations with Mama is hard. Because Mama only seems to know how to speak in orders. Eat the Chicken. Drink the V8. Clean the house. My response is always “Yes, Mama” in different variations. When Mama gives advice, it’s always about what should have been done. Even when Mama’s relaxing on her couch, Mama always seems to be thinking about tomorrow’s work. I got to finish this. I got to pay that. I got to call this person. Mama, works her ass off.
Mama can make money grow without any trees. She runs her own apartment, maintains it (lawn mowing, minor renovations and all)… Solo. She works as care-giver for an elderly woman. She also sews her own hospital uniforms to sell, from our house’s basement. She also sells pants. She picks up a whole bunch of these jeans from a place and distributes them to her friends to sell. In essence, Mama works her ass off. Mama is an Obedient Woman.
The Lord really speaks to me when I think of her and the Busyness. All Mama wants from me is to finish school. And although she doesn’t say it, all Mama needs from me right now is just to be financially stable. There is just so many Dreams that are going through my head. But now more than ever, I know that all He is asking me to be is Obedient. Study. Serve. Experience the every day. Work hard, just like Mama.
Lord, bless Mama. Take away her loneliness and replace it with your Comfort. Love her, embrace her and allow her to experience Joy every single day.
